Next supported book named: Time for God by Father Jacques Philippe

Join a Rediscover: Catholic Book Club at your parish! Here’s a great opportunity for social, spiritual and intellectual growth in a relaxed setting. It’s a perfect way to make this Year of Faith a truly meaningful experience. Nearly 500 book clubs have formed in parishes throughout the Archdiocese since December – and we’re hearing about new clubs starting up regularly!

If your parish doesn’t have a Rediscover: Catholic Book Club yet, talk to your pastor and let him know you’d like to start one. With your help, your parish can offer this great opportunity for faith and prayer enrichment.

Our supported book for spring 2013 is Time for God by Father Jacques Philippe. Just over 100 pages long, this 2008 international bestseller focuses on prayer in solitude and silence to enter into an intimate and loving communion with God. Many people today are thirsty for God and feel a desire for an intense, personal prayer life that is deep and ongoing. But they encounter obstacles that prevent them from following the path seriously, and especially from persevering on it. Time for God was written with these desires and difficulties in mind. The book is available from local book stores and online and costs less than $10 a copy. Our first supported book is Matthew Kelly’s 2010 bestseller Rediscover Catholicism. This book reconnects us with our Catholic faith with simple and accessible language and is a perfect book to launch your Rediscover: Catholic Book Club. Rediscover Catholicism explains how we can become what Kelly calls “the best version of ourselves” and in the process find the meaning and purpose for our lives. Thanks to the generosity of many fellow Catholics here in our local Church, customized copies of Rediscover Catholicism were made available free of cost through parishes across the archdiocese. This book gift offers a special introduction from Archbishop Nienstedt and a discussion guide in the back of the book that can be used in your book club. Limited copies of the customized book remain available. Please check with your parish.
