In the video below, Father Robert Barron comments on marriage. The philosopher Aristotle holds that a friendship will endure only if two friends fall in love not so much with each other but together with a transcendent third. When God is given glory in the highest, then peace is bestowed on us. Marriage before God in the Catholic Church is saying that you and your significant other have discerned that together you are in love with God, and God, for his purposes, has drawn you two together. God, for his purposes, draws two people together so that they may find their salvation in each other’s presence, and that together they may fulfill a common mission.
